Surgical Services

Starr County Memorial Hospital provides a surgical department 24 hours a day/7 days a week. The surgeons from the Renaissance Specialty Clinic continue to provide surgical coverage at our hospital four days a week. Some surgeries include mastectomies, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, hernia (umbilical, inguinal, abdominal) repair, and mass/tumor removals.

Our hospital surgery department also provides laparoscopic surgery. This type of surgery is used to operate on many organs, including but not limited to the colon, small intestine, stomach, appendix, gallbladder, liver and pancreas. The surgical department also provides coverage for obstetrical patients (Cesarean section) and tubal ligation (sterilization).

SCMH would also like to announce our new members of the Surgical Team: Dr. C. Mohammed, Pediatric Dental Surgeon and Dr. S. Siedow, Pediatric Dental Surgeon. These two pediatric dental surgeons provide surgical coverage twice a month for our pediatric population. For more information, you can contact the Surgery Department at (956)370-6822. The surgical team helps our patients through the entire journey, from preparing for surgery to recovering after surgery. We take the time to answer any questions you or your family have about your procedure including what to expect during and after the surgery.
