Nutrition Counseling

Starr County Memorial Hospital Nutrition Services is staffed with a registered dietitian and is available in Starr County. The Registered Dietitian will see patients of all ages.

What you eat has a big impact on your health. Whether you are trying to reach a healthy weight, cope with an illness or reduce the risk of disease, proper nutrition plays an important role. Starr County Memorial Hospital offers nutrition counseling to the community. Our program is ideal for people of all ages and medical histories. It provides the support and guidance needed to reach health goals and make healthy food choices one step at a time.

Scheduling for those on tube feeding
Acanthosis Nigracans
Diabetes
Heart Disease, including management of high blood pressure and high cholesterol

Nutrition for children and adolescents
Services are offered in English and Spanish

A one-hour initial appointment includes an in-depth assessment to determine your nutritional needs. The dietitian will discuss ways to make healthy food choices and will provide you with information to help you understand and manage your nutritional needs. Thirty-minute follow-up appointments, if necessary are available.
A referral is required by a physician. Check with your insurance company to be sure of your coverage.
